Chance to shine - Educating through cricket

Get involved - Clubs

There are lots of fun club-based activities you could do for Step up. You’ll have some great ones yourselves but here are a few of our ideas:

  • Keep half, donate half model (or percentage that your club can afford)
  • Donate your match fee/round up your match fee
  • Forfeits/rewards in team – donate £5 for every five wicket haul or fifty
  • Cricket cake competition – design and make the best cricket-themed cake
  • Retro cricket fancy dress cricket match
  • "Shine for Chance to Shine" car wash
  • Odd jobs – donate the money raised from serving tea to supporters, doing the sightscreen/scoreboard/boundary markers etc
  • Second hand cricket clothing/equipment sale
  • CricOlympics - an afternoon of fun races and cricket competitions, such as cricket ball throw and hit the stumps
  • Cricket-themed summer fete
  • Tug of war with the club’s boundary rope
  • Sponsored cricket fun run/walk
  • Family member matches - play as a family team or two families in a team
  • Quiz night
  • Fancy dress/fun matches: dress up as your favourite cricketers/cricket characters (e.g. Merv Hughes, Don Bradman, Shane Warne, WG Grace etc), Victorian cricket match. Grow a WG Grace beard
  • World record attempts: world’s largest scone/cake/sandwich/cup of tea, world’s biggest cricket tea, longest game, most people throwing a cricket ball at the same time, oldest team vs youngest team, most sixes in a game
  • Arrange match involving members of the team with the same name
